Ann is Co-Director, Trustee & Management Committee member & Secretary for SWC. Ann volunteers most weeks offering appointment & walk-in computer help working with Windows 7 & 8.1 to all local women. Help with Android & Apple operating systems can also be available by arrangement. We have an equipped IT suite using Windows 7 desktop PC’s or Windows 8.1 laptops.
Independently through Digital Unite Ann has become a Digital Champion. She proudly won the Digital Champion of the Month award in April 2013. As a DC, her role is to help others understand the benefits of being online. Ann will use websites including BBC – Learn my Way - Digital Unite - Pbclibrary – www.ukonlinecentres.com/ to encourage learning & practice. She will spend time showing you HOW? For example, a range of activities are; teaching you to get the best out of Google; signing up for a Microsoft account and email address; writing letters/saving & retrieving; downloading; using Office applications; or Government online services; explaining how easy shopping can be, for example Amazon; and how convenient & safe online banking can be.
SWC nominated Ann for the Trustee of the Year award for 2013 & 2014, organised by SCVO (Sutton Centre Voluntary Organisation). Unfortunately her nominations were unsuccessful for the top awards, nevertheless an achievement. From time to time there will be structured courses & training/events at SWC that will be advertised on our website. We have completed successful computer courses led by Ann, ‘Spring Online’, ‘Get Online’ and ’Exploring WWW Windows 8′.
All women are welcome to come along on a Wednesday and work on their own. If you are relying on Ann’s assistance, please check with the centre that she has time available for you.
Alongside IT help, we run an Open House group on Wednesday afternoons. *You can come along to the Open House even if you are not using the computers*.
Ann’s computer knowledge expands through Digital Unite, she is very keen to pass on her skills, experience & knowhow to others.
